East Sepik police are currently gathering information on reports of an armed group in East Sepik showing support to the West Papuan Liberation Army against the Indonesian army.
Provincial Police Commander Albert Beli told FM100 News, the PNGDF’s 2RPIR Commanding Officer has contacted him and they have engaged intelligence officers to establish the reports.
PPC Beli says they are yet to verify which area in the province the group is from.
He further adds they are treating this as a high security alert in the province.
A video of the group with their spokesperson expressing their intention was shared on social media overnight.
