Here comes the video of the Indonesian police forcibly dispersed and arrested the students and Papuan people in the city of Sorong, West Papua province on July 19, 2021.
This was a peaceful protest of the rejection of the Special Autonomy which has been unilaterally ratified by the Indonesian lawmakers without consulting with the Papuan representative, Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) and Papuan People’s Representatives Council (DPRP).
This happened because Indonesian lawmakers pass controversial bill to reshape West Papua.

The Revision of the Special Autonomy Law for the provinces of Papua and West Papua was ratified by Indonesian lawmakers despite widespread opposition by Papuans who have been calling instead for an independence referendum.

During the protest, the Indonesian police arrested
• 36 demonstrators
• Including a 4 years old child named Kelik Pagawak
The most trusted local news Jayapura-based Suara Papua reported that 2 of the 36 demonstrators were children (under age) between 12 even a 4 years kid.
According to the Suara Papua news, 35 demonstrators have been released and 1 person is still being held at the police station.
